Puffed pasta snacks are exactly what they sound like: pasta, cooked, dried, puffed, and turned into a chip you can eat with your hands, no fork required. It's a category that didn't really exist until Tantos built it, starting with 100% semolina and real Italian seasoning. Now it's showing up in snack aisles next to the usual chips, and honestly, it's about time. We're the first and only puffed pasta chip, and we plan on staying that way for a while.

What even is a puffed pasta snack?
Picture your favorite pasta shape. Now puff it, snap it, and season it like your grandmother's kitchen on a Sunday. That's the move. Tantos chips start as a shape we call fioregato, a mashup of fiore (flower) and piegato (folded), made from 100% semolina, cooked, dried, puffed, and seasoned with real Italian ingredients. Not fried in the way you're picturing. Not a cracker wearing a costume. A genuinely new thing. If you want the deep dive, we already wrote what are pasta chips and broke it all down.
Why the snack aisle needed this
The chip aisle has been potato, corn, and more potato for a very long time. We think pasta deserves a seat at that table. A few reasons the category took off:
- It's culinarily curious. The flavors come from the Italian dishes we already love, Marinara, Pesto, Cacio e Pepe, Classico.
- It's delicious self expression. Dip it, top it, board it, eat it straight from the bag standing over the sink. So much yes.
- It goes wherever we go. On a plane, in the car, before dinner, after hours. We're not gonna stop you.
- It's Italian-ish and beyond. Rooted in tradition, built for however modern snacking actually happens.

Highbrow meets lowbrow, pasta chip edition
This is our favorite part of the whole category. Puffed pasta chips are sturdy enough to sit next to caviar and casual enough to ride shotgun on a road trip. Some pairings we stand behind:
- Marinara with Barolo, or Marinara with ranch. Both correct.
- Pesto with fancy sparkling water, or Pesto with string cheese.
- Classico with champagne, or Classico with a bodega soda.
- Cacio e Pepe with a business-class cocktail, or Cacio e Pepe with the free soda in coach.

FAQ
What is a puffed pasta snack?
A puffed pasta snack is pasta made from 100% semolina that's cooked, dried, puffed, and seasoned with real Italian ingredients, then eaten as a chip instead of a dinner. Tantos created the category and remains the first and only puffed pasta chip.
Are puffed pasta chips the same as pasta chips?
They're close cousins. Puffed pasta chips are a specific take on the pasta chip idea, built around a puffed shape we call fioregato rather than a flat or baked cracker style chip.
What flavors do puffed pasta snacks come in?
Tantos comes in four flavors: Marinara, Pesto, Cacio e Pepe, and Classico. All four are available in 4oz bags at retail and online.
Are puffed pasta chips healthier than regular chips?
We won't make that claim. What we can tell you is that Tantos are made from 100% semolina, cooked, dried, puffed, and seasoned with real Italian ingredients. Check the label on the bag for the specifics.
Where can we buy puffed pasta snacks?
Tantos is in Kroger, H-E-B, The Fresh Market, Fresh Thyme, World Market, and select specialty stores, plus online. Use our store locator to find a bag near you.

Tantos takes its name from Tanto si, Italian for so much yes. We're the first and only puffed pasta chip, created by Chef Joe Sasto (Top Chef finalist) and co-founded with Sean Knecht, and we're just getting started on this whole pasta-as-a-snack thing.
